MoneyHub Africa is focused on legitimate ways for South Africans to earn online, so we’ve honed in on online survey sites that we’ve personally tested thoroughly and have found to be trustworthy.

Before compiling this list, we tested 43 survey sites. Factors that were considered included the site in question’s reputation and trust score, whether or not the sites were open to South Africans, the reliability of payouts, the number of surveys available, how much was paid per survey on average, and accessibility.

We’ll be growing this list on an ongoing basis, so please check back regularly or sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we add new sites.

WHICH ONLINE SURVEY SITE IS BEST?

If you’re wanting to know which site is best, our advice is to diversify your portfolio by signing up for all of them. It may take time, but it’s worth it. Signing up with several online survey sites will ensure a consistent flow of surveys to the extent that you’ll eventually be able to select only those that you feel are worth your while.

KEYS TO ONLINE SURVEY SUCCESS

1.  Complete Your Profile Thoroughly

When signing up with a site, take the time to complete your profile thoroughly. This helps the survey site to know which surveys are suited to your lifestyle, preferences and demographics. In the long run, it will save you a lot of time and frustration.

2.  Be Patient

Remember that the failure rate for surveys is high for everybody. Market research companies are looking for specific demographics on each survey and there’s no way of knowing beforehand what those demographics are.

Something else to consider is the fact that survey sites can take a while to build a trust score for you, and in many cases, it will require many survey attempts to reassure the market research company that your answers are reliable.

3.  Be Persistent

Don’t give up. Now that you know that you will be disqualified for the bulk of surveys that you attempt, just keep going at it. Over time, you will find that an increasing number of surveys become available to you, and often at better pay rates.

4.  Be Consistent

Survey sites are looking for consistency in your responses. Consistency results in a higher trust score, and once you have built a solid reputation, market research companies will increasingly send you better-paying surveys.

The best way to ensure consistency is to be brutally honest. Many of the questions in surveys are designed to test your consistency, and if your responses were not honest to begin with, you’ll have a hard time remembering your previous responses. Being dishonest is a great way to increase your disqualification rate and potentially get your account blocked.

ADOPT A STRATEGIC APPROACH

In conclusion, online survey sites can be an enjoyable and profitable endeavour if you approach them strategically.

By selecting reputable sites, diversifying your portfolio, completing profiles accurately, staying engaged, and managing your time wisely, you can make the most out of your online survey experience.

Your earnings are likely to grow as you become more experienced and build a positive reputation within the survey community.

TGM Research has a dedicated South African online panel. They will notify you via email when there’s a survey available. While there are generally not many surveys available, they pay better than most survey sites.

You can withdraw your earnings from $12.50 upwards to PayPal.

4.  ySense

ySense Logo

ySense is well-geared for surveys and its dashboard is easy to navigate. Outside of surveys, ySense will pay you to complete your profile at a rate of $0.02 per 10 questions. There’s also a daily survey where you can earn $0.01 for a second of your time. Survey values are anywhere from $0.25 to $R1.50 per survey.

A great feature on Ysense is that it has a filter which allows you to choose the amount of time you’re willing to spend or the minimum amount you’re willing to accept for a survey. Ysense has partnered with Samplicio.us, Pollfish, Bitlabs, CPX and Dynata Rex, amongst others.

Withdrawal Options

There are several withdrawal options with varying thresholds, but those relevant for South Africans are $5 for an Amazon gift voucher, $5.05 for Skrill, $10 upwards for PayPal, and $25 and upwards for Payoneer.

5.  SurveyTime

SurveyTime Logo

Invitations are sent by SurveyTime via email or desktop notifications. They have a flat rate of $1 per survey, and if you don’t qualify for the survey in question, SurveyTime will offer you alternative surveys at $0.50.

Withdrawal Options

There is no need to place withdrawal requests. All completed surveys are paid immediately to your PayPal account.

6.  Pagazani

Pagazani is properly geared for surveys. There’s an array of survey routers that are not ordinarily available on other sites like Peanut Labs, Dynapoll, Speak Up and Sample Cube.

What’s also unique about Pagazani is that when you’re rejected for a survey the router keeps finding and presenting new survey opportunities without having to manually select new surveys.

Withdrawal Options

Withdrawal thresholds are $5 for PayPal, $10 for an Amazon gift card, $20 for Bitcoin and $50 for Payoneer.

7.  Gopinion

Gopinion Logo

Gopinion has several surveys available per day and a great mobile app with a user-friendly interface. They reward you generously for completing your profile which gives you a good headstart.

You can also earn via their referral programme rewards. Your invitee will start with a 250 coin starting bonus and you get 15% of their survey rewards.

Withdrawal Options

You can redeem your points to PayPal, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin or Tether, but their threshold is quite high at a minimum of $15 for withdrawal.

8.  Paid Viewpoint

Paid Viewpoint Logo

This site is considerably different from other survey sites in that both your profile completion and surveys are by invitation only. Paid Viewpoint will send you daily emails or push notifications (if enabled) inviting you to take part in trait score surveys, 10 questions at a time. You are rewarded $0.03 for every 10 questions. These surveys can take a few weeks to complete, but it’s worth your while.

Occasionally you will be invited to participate in a survey outside of those for your trait score, but it’s rare before your trait score has reached 9000 points or more, which qualifies you for higher-paying surveys.

Withdrawal Options

Initially, the payment threshold is $15, but the more you raise your trait score, the more the threshold drops. Earnings can be withdrawn to PayPal.

9.  Swagbucks

Swagbucks Logo

Swagbucks has a wonderfully simple interface and I would like to rate it higher, but find that there are not that many surveys for South Africans. You will find the available surveys under the “Answer” tab.

Surveys that are available on a daily basis are the daily poll, where you earn 1 Swagbuck for a super quick one-question survey, and Swagbucks also rewards you with 2 Swagbucks for every 10 survey profile questions that you answer. Another easy way to earn Swagbucks is to add the Swagbutton extension to your Chrome browser. You’re surfing the net anyway, so you may as well earn Swagbucks while you’re at it.

Withdrawal Options

You can redeem your points for an Amazon voucher from $5 dollars (500 Swagbucks), to PayPal from $10 (1000 Swagbucks) and to Payoneer from $52 (5200 Swagbucks) upwards.

These are our top online survey sites for now. As always, we will continue testing new sites daily and will update this list when we find worthy survey sites.
