Clickworker is an alternative type of freelancer platform and offers a wide variety of work options. It’s not a freelance platform like UpWork and Fiverr in that Clickworker offers an outstanding variety of micro-tasks, particularly through its partnership with UHRS.
You will need to register to become a Clickworker. Once you’ve completed your profile, you’ll be presented with opportunities that Clickworker deems to be a good fit for you based on your qualifications, skills, language/s and interests. They will also take your previous work assessments into consideration. For this reason, no two Clickworkers’ dashboards will be the same, and your personal dashboard will be uniquely tailored for you.
Clickworker has a nifty mobile app (Android and iOS) that allows you to work wherever you are.
If you’re working from a desktop device, you will also need to download the Clickworker app from Google Play on your mobile for authentication purposes.
WAYS TO EARN
Your dashboard will display assignments on offer, including making videos, surveys and data processing. Clickworker is not particularly strong on surveys, and a number of options on Clickworker’s main dashboard are not available to South Africans. Since we’re focused on sites where South Africans are able to earn money, this review will only cover two money-making aspects of Clickworker:
1. UHRS
UHRS (Universal Human Relevance System) is Clickworker’s primary project. It’s a crowdsourcing platform that works in the data labelling and AI space. If you prefer working on micro-tasks, the UHRS platform is a good place to be.
Once you click on “Jobs” at the top of your left-hand menu, you will find the UHRS on your dashboard.
The login for UHRS is somewhat different. When you sign up for UHRS, Clickworker will provide you with a unique hotmail email address which needs to be used to log in to your Microsoft account.
Once you’ve logged into UHRS, on the “Marketplace” screen click on “All” to open view the range the tasks that are available to you.
Each task will advertise how much you will be paid per hit and how many hits are available. It makes sense to choose tasks where there are sufficient hits available for you to earn before the task is shut down.
For most of their tasks, they will offer a preview of the task, downloadable guidelines, and a training session. If you pass the training session successfully, you can attempt to qualify. Once you qualify, UHRS will pay out per hit, which really means that they will pay the advertised amount for every successfully completed step.
Should you fail to qualify, that task will be removed from your dashboard, but don’t stress, there are plenty more from which to choose.
2. REFERRALS
You will receive a €5 bonus for each invitee that joins but only once that referral has earned and withdrawn a minimum of €10.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU EARN?
Once you get into it and get the hang of how things work, the average earning rate is between $8 and $11 per hour. There are reports of Clickworkers earning up to $25 per hour, but it takes a while to reach this level.
PAYMENT
Clickworker will process payments via Payoneer or PayPal on a weekly basis. One of the advantages of Clickworker is that, unlike other similar sites, you don’t need to manually request payment. Once you reach their minimum payment threshold of €20, they will automatically add you to their weekly bill run.
SUMMARY
Clickworker openly states that their platform is not a substitute for full-time employment, as the project offers vary greatly, meaning that your monthly income cannot be guaranteed. It can however offer a viable income stream if this type of work is for you.
The one thing that is guaranteed is that you’ll never get bored with the plethora of exciting and changing tasks and projects offered. With a bit of dedication and commitment, it is possible to earn a reasonable amount of extra cash.
